Almighty Jiu-Jitsu offers dedicated kids self-defense classes in Huntington Beach, CA. Our program teaches children how to handle bullies, recognize stranger danger, and protect themselves in unsafe situations – all in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. We accept children as young as 4 years old into our Pee Wee program (ages 4-6). At this age, we focus on basic body awareness, following instructions, personal space, and yelling for help. Our Kids program (ages 7-12) teaches more advanced skills including escaping grabs, verbal assertiveness, stranger danger awareness, and ground recovery. If your child can follow simple instructions and separate from you for 30-45 minutes, they are ready. Your first class is always free – no obligation.
Absolutely not. Our program teaches the opposite – control, confidence, and knowing when to walk away. Children learn that self-defense is only for unsafe situations, not for playground disagreements or showing off. We emphasize verbal assertiveness first and physical techniques only as a last resort. Many parents enroll their children specifically because they are shy or lack confidence. Self-defense gives them the tools to stand up for themselves without becoming the bully. We have seen countless shy children gain confidence and overly aggressive children learn calmness through consistent training.
